It’s been long month and a half but the marriage is over — reality show star Evelyn Lozada has filed for divorce.

Chad Johnson‘s wife of 6 weeks filed divorce papers today in Florida, claiming her marriage is “irretrievably broken.”

And the cause? The domestic violence incident over the weekend, in which Chad Johnson was arrested after allegedly head-butting her during an argument.

The Basketball Wives star claimed she found a receipt for a box of condoms in his car.  Johnson has since been cut from the Miami Dolphins and their VH-1 reality show “Ev and Ocho” has been canceled.

Lozada issued a statement earlier:

“I am deeply disappointed that Chad has failed to take responsibility for his actions and made false accusations against me.”

“It is my sincere hope that he seeks the help he needs to overcome his troubles. Domestic violence is not okay and hopefully my taking a stand will help encourage other women to break their silence as well.”
