Matt Tucker of Springfield, Missouri went fishing for bass but ended up reeling in a live grenade instead.

Don’t worry though. The man was not hurt.

According to the Springfield News-Leader, the man “noticed an old sock near his lure and pulled the odd bit of trash out of the lake…Inside the sock? A Vietnam-era pineapple hand grenade with the safety pin still intact.”

The man told the publication that he “felt the weight to it and felt the ridges of the pineapple and knew what it was. I looked at it and found it wasn’t a dud — it wasn’t drilled out.”

The man reported his find and the grenade, which authorities deemed “armed”, was properly disposed of.
